At least 18 people have been killed in heavy rains and landslides in the Indian states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.


According to Indian media, landslides occurred in Uttarakhand following heavy rains and a cloudburst, resulting in 15 deaths, while 16 people are still missing.


Reports state that in the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun city, flash floods swept away several shops, roads, and houses, while communication in urban areas has been disrupted and train services have also been affected.


It is noteworthy that last month as well, a cloudburst wreaked havoc in Dharali village of Uttarakhand, causing several deaths and leaving many missing.
