Leonardo DiCaprio is bringing something very different to the big screen in his upcoming movie One Battle After Another. The actor recently opened up about his role as Bob Ferguson and even compared it to Tom Cruise’s famous Ethan Hunt from the Mission: Impossible series.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Leonardo explained that Bob Ferguson is far from being a skilled action hero. He’s a father struggling to raise his daughter and doesn’t know the right way to do it. When his daughter gets captured, he just has to go after her,” he said. “Why take the bathrobe off? You gotta go. You gotta go get your girl.”

Unlike Ethan Hunt, who always nails his impossible missions, DiCaprio’s character is messy and flawed. “It’s like the opposite of Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible. [Bob] does everything wrong. And he doesn’t land or stick any of his stunts,” Leonardo joked.

The film also stars Regina Hall as Deandra, Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn.

Benicio del Toro shared how much he enjoyed working with Leonardo. Speaking to People, he said, “With Leo, you just let him bring the character. He’s the story. My job was to make sure my character supported that. I’ve admired him for decades, and getting the chance to finally work with him was a great experience.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see Leonardo’s new side as an unlikely hero Leonardo DiCaprio’s new movie One Battle After Another is set to release in theaters on September 26, 2025.
