Due to the boycott campaign against the Pakistan match in India, officials of the Indian Cricket Board have remained absent from the spotlight despite being the hosts of the Asia Cup.
According to Indian media, the board has decided not to send any senior officials to Dubai for the Pakistan-India match because of the ongoing boycott campaign. Most BCCI officials are distancing themselves from the match.
Indian media has started calling this policy of board officials not appearing at the match a “silent boycott.”
Reports state that during the Champions Trophy, all senior BCCI and state association officials were present in Dubai. However, ICC Chairman Jay Shah chose to attend a meeting in the United States instead of the match.
According to Indian media reports, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia cited preparations for the Women’s World Cup as the reason for not going to Dubai, while IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal has also decided not to watch the match at the stadium.
The media further reports that BCCI Vice President and Asian Cricket Council Executive Board member Rajeev Shukla may appear on camera only in the event of India’s victory.
As per reports, other BCCI officials are also expected to come forward publicly only if
India wins.
