Severe flooding in Thailand’s Muang District has killed over 50,000 chickens at a poultry farm, causing financial losses of up to 10 million baht. Authorities warn of ongoing risks as heavy rains continue.

Floods Wreak Havoc in Eastern Thailand

Severe flooding has struck Thailand’s eastern province, particularly the Muang District, leaving behind widespread destruction. According to international media reports, while residents have been heavily affected, a major tragedy also unfolded at a local poultry farm where floodwaters killed more than 50,000 chickens.

Massive Financial Losses for Poultry Farm Owner

The poultry farm owner revealed that the disaster resulted in an estimated loss of 8 to 10 million baht. Continuous overnight rainfall caused water levels to rise to nearly 30 centimeters inside the poultry sheds, leaving little chance for survival of the birds.

Owner Shares Heartbreaking Experience

Speaking to the media, the farm’s owner described the scale of devastation. She explained that one entire chicken shed was washed away by the flood, while almost all the chickens in another shed drowned. The chickens were due to be sold on September 18, but the disaster wiped out the stock completely.

History of Flooding in the Region

This is not the first time the farm has suffered flood damage. Back in 2022, similar flooding had caused heavy losses. The owner expressed deep concern over recurring disasters and the lack of sustainable preventive measures.

Ongoing Risks Ahead

Authorities have warned that continued heavy rainfall may increase flood risks in the coming days, urging residents and farm owners to stay alert. The incident highlights the severe impact of natural disasters not only on human lives but also on the agricultural and poultry dustries in Thailand.
