The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will issue its stance regarding the Asia Cup in the next few hours.
According to sources, the PCB’s request to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup has been rejected, and the ICC has already informed the PCB of its decision.
Sources say that if Pakistan’s demand is not accepted, the team may withdraw from the Asia Cup.
According to sources, the team management in Dubai is unaware of the ICC’s decision regarding the match referee.
It is also being said that for the future course of action, consultation with the government is likely, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi may hold discussions with key government officials today.
It should be noted that an Indian cricket website had claimed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected Pakistan’s request to remove Andy Pycroft as referee for the Pakistan-India match.
According to the Indian website, the ICC informed the PCB about this last night.
Earlier, Pakistan had demanded from the ICC that match referee Andy Pycroft be removed from the Asia Cup due to the handshake incident.
It may be recalled that on September 15, Pakistan, in response to the conduct shown during the match against India, had decided that if the referee was not changed, they would not participate in further matches of the Asia Cup.
