Hollywood star Jason Isaacs, best known for his roles in Harry Potter and HBO’s The White Lotus, delivered a moving acceptance speech at the Creative Coalition’s Humanitarian Awards Luncheon. The 62-year-old actor, who was among seven honorees at the event, reflected on his late mother and the values she instilled in him.
Jason Isaacs Pays Tribute to His Mother
During his acceptance, Isaacs shared a personal memory about his mother’s dedication to helping others.
“She was much more comfortable helping other people than being herself,” Isaacs recalled. “I found her incredibly annoying. She told us all the time how she was saving the world.”
Despite their differences, Isaacs acknowledged the lasting impact of her example.
“One thing my mother did give me, along with all kinds of terrible complexes, is a sense of responsibility — that with great privilege comes great responsibility,” he said, aligning his words with this year’s theme of ‘caregiving.’
Feeling Like an “Imposter” in Hollywood
Though Isaacs has been in the industry for nearly four decades, the Emmy-nominated actor admitted he still struggles with self-doubt. In a conversation with People, he revealed:
I get completely starstruck by everybody whose work I admire… There’s a lot of extraordinary talent around. I always feel like an imposter. I will feel like an imposter on Emmy night too — and I kind of look forward to it and I’m kind of scared of it.”
Isaacs emphasized that his Emmy buzz is less about personal achievement and more about the opportunities he has had:
“It’s not a coincidence. I didn’t do anything better or different than I normally do. I just had a fantastic part.”
Praising Mike White and The White Lotus
Speaking about his experience on The White Lotus, Isaacs credited creator Mike White for crafting complex characters that challenge actors to dig deeper.
“Mike White creates these three-dimensional, surprising human beings that behave in jagged or particular ways,” Isaacs explained. “He asks actors to go to places they don’t normally go. And so it’s such a privilege.”
Jason Isaacs’ Legacy of Responsibility and Art
With decades of acclaimed performances across television, film, and stage, Isaacs remains one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors. His speech not only highlighted his humility but also connected with the Creative Coalition’s mission of social impact through the arts.
As he continues to navigate fame with honesty and vulnerability, Isaacs proves that true recognition comes not just from awards, but from the stories we tell and the values we carry forward.
