Kabul (Sabah News) — The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding regaining control of Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base, saying that history bears witness that Afghanistan has never accepted foreign forces on its soil.
An Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs official, Zakir Jalali, said in a post on X that during the Doha talks and the subsequent agreement, the possibility of such a scenario had been completely ruled out.
Jalali further stated that without maintaining any U.S. military presence in any part of Afghanistan, Afghanistan and the United States can establish economic and political relations based on mutual respect and shared interests.
