Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has made a touching and major claim while paying tribute to Robert Redford, who passed away on September 16, 2025. Baldwin says that after the Rust movie set shooting incident, in which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally wounded and director Joel Souza injured, Redford sent him a “loveliest letter”.
In a recent video, Baldwin reflected on the aftermath of the Rust case, which was later dismissed in 2024. He shared: “When I went through all of what I went through … I got a letter from Bob Redford.“I’m thankful the case concluded positively for you, and I feel sorry for the struggles you faced.”
This revelation has stood out among many tributes pouring in for Redford, a celebrated actor known for his roles and activism. Baldwin’s claim adds a personal dimension to the public mourning: it shows that Redford offered comfort beyond just words, reaching out in a time of legal and emotional stress.
Many in the entertainment world also paid respects. Colman Domingo thanked Redford for his “everlasting impact,” and Meryl Streep called him “my lovely friend.”
Robert Redford died at age 89 in his home at Sundance, Utah. Although the cause of death was not revealed immediately, his legacy continues through his films, activism, and the personal stories shared by colleagues like Baldwin.
